Belarusian state propaganda has not put hands on Nobel Prize

Last week, Belarusian writer Svetlana Aleksievich was awarded the Nobel Prize. The independent media extensively covered the ceremonies, many Belarusians got together in various open spaces to listen to Aleksievich’s Nobel speech. Nobel Prize winner Aleksievich has become a factor of national pride and unity of civil society. The state media reported about this event in the evening news, but the bottom line is that the state propaganda has failed to take advantage of the fact that this prestigious award had been given to a Belarusian writer in order to enhance the symbolic capital of the country.
