Human rights activists: Lukashenka collected 100 thousand signatures, Karatkevich collected 15 thousand signatures
Activists of Belarusian Helsinki Committee and human rights centre “Viasna” prepared an analytical report on the observation of the election campaign between July 23rd and August 2nd.
According to the report Siarhei Haidukevich collected 55 thousand signatures, Viktar Tsiareshchanka collected 22 thousand signatures, Tacciana Karatkevich collected 15 thousand signatures, Anatol Lyabedzka collected more than 10 thousand signatures, Siarhei Kaliakin collected more than 6 thousand signatures. Unregistered group of Mikalai Statkevich appeals for boycotting election.
In order to be registered as a candidate a Belarusian citizen must gather 100 thousand signatures.
Head of Central Election Committee Lidziya Yarmoshyna said on Wednesday that the Committee has already received more than 100 thousand signatures in support of the incumbent president. The observers say that they receive information about the usage of administrative pressure on the electors in order to gather signatures in support of Alexander Lukashenka’s candidacy.
