Belarus has found additional raw milk in EU

In the first ten days of September, Belarus imported more than 2.7 thousand tons of milk for processing and then supplying to the Russian and Belarusian markets. Due to Russia’s ban on dairy products supplies from the EU, Belarus expects to further increase her imports of raw milk.

This will increase the load of dairy plants and improve the industry’s financial health. But as more Belarusian dairy products are exported to Russia, she will compensate partly by increasing the amount of dairy products imported from Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine in order to meet domestic demand. The relevant supervisory authorities might introduce stricter control over supplies to Russia. To date, current arrangements have been profitable for Belarus, but they depend on price factors for raw milk and duration of Russian sanctions.
