The competition Belarus in Focus is now closed. A list of finalists will be published here on February 15th, 2013. Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on March 15th, 2013, in Warsaw.

As the judges read the articles, you can also vote for your favourite ones! Simply open the article and click on the ‘like’ button. See articles here

So as not to influence the jury, the number of ‘likes’ per article is only visible to the website administrator. You will be able to ‘like’ each article only once.

We’ll reveal the number of ‘likes’ for each article on February 15, 2013. The author whose article has the most likes will win a special prize.


‘Belarus in Focus 2012’ is the second edition of a competition for all journalists – Belarusian and international – writing about Belarus in the international media.

Held by Solidarity with Belarus Information Office in collaboration with Press Club Polska, the competition aims to highlight articles that attempt to present a new, original side to Belarus and explore the country beyond the label of ‘Europe’s last dictatorship’.
